It is finally (fingers crossed) Spring in the Midwest, and hopefully, as the Today Show’s weatherman, Al Roker says, “And in your neck of the woods!” It has been a long winter, but it is time to Spring Forth and Conquer ala Fiercely50ish style!

New Meet Old, Old Meet New

For years I thought every season meant new clothes. Not sure where that came from, but perhaps I may have heard the word new and immediately headed for my favorite retail meccas. Well, I am here to help you not to fall into that expensive and “too many clothes that I cannot possibly wear in my lifetime” habit. Your fashion will not suffer, in fact, it will flourish as will your individual style.

So, let’s talk about the possibilities of pairing the old with the new when it comes to your Spring wardrobe. And, this applies to all seasons, so take good notes and you will soon be a pro on fashion sense and combining your already fabulous clothing pieces, accessories with any new fashion investments you are making for not only Spring but well into Summer!

Here we go!

Denim Jacket: Loft; White Blouse: cabi; Blue Skirt: Loft; Shoes: Franco Sarto; Purse: Literally found it when cleaning my closet (no clue where it’s from).

I have identified in the caption above where all these pieces came from. And, guess what? The only new investment is the white cabi blouse. The other pieces are between one and four years old. Sorry, I truly cannot remember where the purse came from. I recently found it when I made the decision to completely and totally clean and purge my closet. That’s another blog series…and I’m happy to report, nobody was hurt.

Jacket: cabi; Dress: Urban Market; Shoes: Sam Edelman

So this outfit includes pairing a new investment, the cabi pink jacket with an existing dress and shoes.

Fiercely50ish Fashion Tip #1

Here’s a fashion tip for you-if you feel washed out in the pastel palette, (like me) simply combine it with a darker color and you’ll be amazed at how the contrast works.

And, this dress can be worn all year long with tights and/or leggings and pair it with other jackets, cute cardigans or anything else appropriate for the season. I’m going to bet each of you have a dress like this and if you go shopping in your closet, (my favorite) you will be amazed at what you will find.

More Spring Fashion Options

Trench Coat: cabi; Blouse: cabi; Jeans: Loft; Shoes: Franco Sarto

Here’s another look that combines two new pieces, the trench and blouse, with boyfriend jeans and heels. The cabi trench can literally go with anything and can be dressed up with a skirt or dress. Can you tell I love blue?

Jacket: cabi; Blouse: Lana’s Boutique; Jeans: Loft; Shoes: Franco Sarto

And here is yet another cabi jacket combined with the jeans, heels and I added red (surprise, not blue) for a more seasonal look. The two new pieces in this ensemble are the jacket and red top. You can certainly pair this with a blue skirt and change up the shoes. The possibilities are truly limitless.

Have fun with combining new pieces with your existing clothes.
